Alipon wanted to model himself on a rich Indian merchant that he read about who kept six wives in different towns without any of them finding out about the others. Alipon was so overexcited by the first part of this true story that he failed to read the rest of it. Already he was hyperactively boasting of which six girls he intended to marry and where he would scatter them around Laguna, Batangas, Cavite and Alabang too far apart ever to meet. But the wives in the story did eventually find out, and in collusion with a greedy corrupt politician just like Alipon is now they hired an assassin to kill the merchant and make it look like an accident. They shared the merchant's enormous wealth equally between the eight people involved so all of them would maintain secrecy. Many years later, after the six wives had grown old and died from natural causes, the complete story came to light when it was found that they had jointly kept a secret diary in case the crooked politician ever tried to double cross them. Both the politician and the assassin were still living when the diary was discovered, and both were executed for murder. Manuel Manoy Alipon has proved to be the most corrupt Vice Mayor in Sta Rosa's history and will never make it to Mayor. Voters will ditch him in 2010 because the honest and younger candidate Arnel Gomez will make a much better City Vice Mayor with all the competence and integrity that Alipon totally lacks.
So what's happening right now?
Well a new magazine has been launched about life in Santa Rosa. Also, leadership and public-speaking clubs are being started up for subdivisions and schools in Sta Rosa.
Who are they for?
The magazine is to promote Santa Rosa around the Philippines and overseas, with the purpose of attracting new investors, jobs, and house buyers. It has cancelled plans to feature Manoy Alipon.
The leadership and speaking clubs are educationally structured to give people confidence and experience in community or business leadership and in public speaking on matters of importance to their work and families. For example many recent speeches deplored vice mayoral greed and corruption, which the speakers believed are damaging the future of citizens everywhere in the country.
What about language?
To reach its national and international target readership, Santa Rosa Magazine is in English. But the leadership and speaking clubs can operate in either English or Tagalog. Both languages are widely used in local business and politics.

There are already more than 150 Toastmasters Clubs in the Philippines. Meralco now has 3 company Toastmasters Clubs to help its employees improve their leadership and speaking skills.
The owners' or residents' association of any subdivision can form its own club and sponsor one in its local school.
Alternatively any business company, private individual or social group may start a public speaking club for its own purposes. Although recommended, it is not absolutely essential to be part of Toastmasters International.
